Community supports Family Resource Center

Employees from Jack Demmer Ford in Wayne donated back-to-school supplies to the Family Resource Center.

The Family Resource Center, located at Adams Upper Elementary School, 33475 Palmer, Westland, is a resource that all families in Wayne-Westland Community Schools can use. It serves students in all buildings in the district by providing resources and referrals to local community agencies and services throughout the community. Some of these resources include parenting classes, tutoring, food and clothing assistance.
The Family Resource Center (FRC) has partnerships with local non-profit organizations and businesses who can provide help and support to our students and families.
Many generous donors helped provide back-to-school supplies to our students. The Westland Goodfellows purchased over $3,000 of assorted school supplies and backpacks. Also, they have allocated $2,000 to purchase toiletries for FRC for students in need.
Jack Demmer Ford employees have supported the FRC for many years too. They delivered a variety of school supplies and backpacks for students and cases of paper for teachers.
St. Mary Cause of Our Joy, Plymouth Canton Church of Christ, Ford Motor Company Michigan Assembly Plant Employees and Advantage Living Center donated back to school supplies also.
So far, over 400 WWCS students have received supplies they needed for the school year.
Individuals also donate items for students. Vickie Garrets knitted scarves and hats for students to have this winter. Dawn Wyrybkowski delivered assorted school supplies, backpacks and shoes for students in need.
The Family Resource Center appreciates the support from the community. They are currently collecting the following donations: new toiletries, winter hats, gloves, and scarves, school supplies, backpacks, new socks, and underwear. They also accept monetary donations.
The goal of the FRC is to partner with families, community and WWCS to positively impact the success of every Wayne-Westland student to meet their social, emotional, physical and academic needs.
