I want to wear my ugly sweater…
Join the Wayne Goodfellows for their 31st annual fundraiser event “No Child Without a Christmas” on Saturday, December 9, at the Hellenic Cultural Center, 36375 Joy Rd, Westland. For $30 per person, you get 5 hours of fun including dinner, desserts and an open bar. There will also be raffles, auctions, sports memorabilia and the Spin to Win Wheel. There is no dress code; you are encouraged to wear your ugly sweater, your holiday attire or whatever you like! What and where was Nankin Township?
A presentation will be held on Thursday, December 14, called “What and Where Was Nankin Township? Can You Be a Founding Family of Wayne?” The talk will be given by John Mills at 7:00 p.m. at the Wayne Historical Museum following the Wayne Historical Society’s monthly business meeting at 6:00 p.m.
Free Legal Consultation for senior citizens
On Thursday, November 16, Wayne Senior Services is offering Wayne and Westland senior citizens 15-minute, one-on-one consultations with an attorney to help with legal questions. Please call for an appointment (734) 721-7460.
Trip to Frankenmuth
Wayne Sometimes Travelers will be taking a daytrip on Wednesday, November 29, to Frankenmuth. Travelers will be able to enjoy ‘The Vogues’, one of the top ten oldies groups around. They’ll also enjoy lunch at the Bavarian Inn and the opportunity to shop at the Castle Shops and Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland. Call Nancy for prices and times: (734) 721-7460.
Fundraiser buffet lunch
The Family Resource Center will be hosting a fundraiser buffet lunch on Tuesday, November 14, from 11:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m. at Café Marquette, 36455 Marquette Rd, Westland.
The minimum donation is $10 per person at the door. The donations will go to the Family Resource Center which assists students and families in need that are attending Wayne-Westland Community Schools.

Veteran’s Day ceremony
Wayne Memorial High School will be hosting their annual Veteran’s Day ceremony on Friday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m by the flag pole. All are welcome to attend.
Santa in Derby’s Alley
Santa Claus is coming to town on Saturday, December 2nd, from 12-2:00 p.m. in Derby’s Alley (35005 W. Michigan Avenue, between G.I. Surplus and Flagship Boutique). Kids will have the opportunity to meet Santa in the Alley, we will be giving away free candy canes, coloring books, and cocoa and cookies provided by Bakers Acre. The first 100 kids to RSVP will also get a free hot Heavenly Hot Dogs (12 and under). This event is co-sponsored by Wayne Main Street and the Knights of Columbus.

Historic Wayne theaters
Join the Wayne Historical Society for a presentation on Wayne’s historic theaters, including the Palace Opera House, Alsieum Theater, Old Wayne Theater, the Drive-in and the State Wayne. Presentation starts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, at the Wayne Historical Museum. Light refreshments will be served.
Free Pancake breakfast!
St. Mary Catholic School, 34516 Michigan Ave, will be hosting an Open House and Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, November 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to come tour the school, meet the teachers, and see how the Pre-K-8th grade school invests in actively incorporating technology into their Catholic faith-based educational experience. The middle school drama class will be performing a skit and there is the FREE pancake breakfast. You are also invited to join in one of the masses being held at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. or the Spanish mass at 2:00 p.m.

This process will include face-to-face meetings and an opportunity to participate through an online format.

International Taste Festival
Westwick Square Cooperative Activities Committee will be hosting their first International Taste Festival to be held on Saturday, November 18, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Westwick Square Cooperative Housing Community Building, 4900 Heather Place, Wayne. This event will provide the Wayne community an opportunity to sample cuisines from different cultures. The food samples are donated and sold by members of the Westwick Square Cooperative and celebrate its diversity while allowing us to share our unique cultures with one another.
Sample food sizes will be sold for a varying number of tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the event for .25 cents per ticket. Mark your calendars and get ready to enjoy some fantastic foods. Westwick Square looks forward to showcasing the best part of living in Wayne…our sense of community.
Presenting “A Wrinkle in Time”
Wayne Memorial High School will be presenting their fall play, “A Wrinkle in Time” November 9-11 at Stockmeyer Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for students; $8 for adults. They can be purchased a half hour before each show at the auditorium box office. The play begins at 7:00 p.m.
