Annual Firefighter pancake breakfast
By Sarah Shurge – “Meet our local heroes on a more personal level,” said Lisa Kubany, Wayne Downtown Development Authority’s (DDA) Marketing and Events Director.
The Annual Firefighter Pancake Breakfast will be held on Saturday, October 14th, from 9 a.m. – 12p.m.
Come for all-you-can-eat pancakes (includes three sausages, coffee, milk, and juice). $8.00 per person, children (10 and under) are $5.00. There will be $1.00 and $5.00 raffles, and door prizes.
“One hundred percent of the funds raised at the breakfast goes directly back to the community,” said Kubany. “It’s very important that we bring awareness of not only fire safety, but also how hard our EMT and firefighters are working.”
The funds go towards public education for safety and fire education materials and allow firefighters to visit the schools or the schools are able to come and tour the station.
The breakfast will also have a classroom and teacher contest. There will be a board to sign in – with every school in our district. It’s up to you to get all of your friends to come.
The classroom with the most attendance will win a free pizza party in the classroom (with pizza, pop, and cookies) and a visit from the Wayne Fire Department.
The teacher with the most classroom participation will win a $50 gift card. The event will also have face painting and balloon twisters.
“I love watching the kids get so excited with the trucks and watching the fire fighters interact with everyone too,” said Kubany.
The breakfast will be at the Wayne Fire Department located at 3300 S Wayne Rd. Be sure to come support the cause and don’t miss out on all the fun!
