City hires full time Chief
After retiring from the City of Westland as the Fire Chief, the hiring of Michael Stradtner to become exclusively Wayne’s Fire Chief was approved by Wayne City Council on February 2. The interlocal agreement between Wayne and Westland was terminated. Wayne had shared Chief Stradtner with Westland for the last four years.
Chief Stradtner has spent 26 years in the fire service, all of them in Westland. He will not receive any pension, healthcare or retiree healthcare benefits in the Wayne position.
“It’s very humbling that you’ve supported me tonight,” Chief Stradtner addressed the Wayne council. “I truly appreciate it. I still have a lot left in me to give. I’m still very passionate about the fire service and passionate about the communities in which we serve, and I hope to serve you the best that I can.”
