Lee’s Famous Recipe open in Wayne
By Sarah Shurge – If anyone is like me and has been patiently waiting for Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken to open in Wayne, the time has finally come!
Lee’s Famous Recipe opened on Thursday, January 11th. Before officially opening, Lee’s had a family day on Wednesday, January 10th, where around 450 families were fed.
“It’s been good so far,” said Noman Aiyash, Lee’s Famous Recipe owner. “We’ve been busy. Everybody is excited. I love it.”
Lee’s grand opening is scheduled for Thursday, February 15th, at 10:30 a.m.
Unlike the Lee’s location in Plymouth, Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken in Wayne has both a seating area and drive-through.
Aiyash mentioned that some of the best-selling items are the chicken strips, pot pie, and desserts. “The desserts are bigger here because you can’t find them anywhere else,” said Aiyash.
My go-to order is always the breast strips meal with macaroni and cheese, potato wedges, ranch, and a sweet tea. This comes with a biscuit, butter, and honey as well.
For research purposes for this article, I ordered the assorted desserts. This includes an apple turnover, cherry turnover, caramel brownie, fudge brownie, and a chocolate chip cookie. If you are a fan of something sweet, I would recommend the two brownies. They are soft, gooey, and reminded me of the brownies from the Kid Cuisine meals I had as a child.
“I never had it [Lee’s] before and I thought it was great,” said Emma Krucsil, employed in Wayne. “I was impressed with the chicken.” Krucsil ordered the breast strips, macaroni and cheese, and potato wedges, with chipotle ranch and BBQ sauce. “I ordered ahead of time and it was fast,” said Krucsil.
Jazmyne Hawk, Wayne resident, also tried Lee’s for the first time. “I thought it was great,” said Hawk. “The customer service was excellent and service was fast. Also I thought the price was affordable.” Hawk ordered the breast strips, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes and gravy, with BBQ and bonsai sauce. “I loved the bonsai sauce,” said Hawk.
Lee’s Famous Recipe is located at 34250 Michigan Ave and is open from 10 a.m. 1 10 p.m. Sunday – Saturday.
“I’m here for the city and a part of the community. I support them and they support me,” said Aiyash. “I want them to try it [Lee’s], and if there is anything they need, I will do it.”
