Annual Marshmallow drop at Hype Athletics!
HYPE Athletics is hosting the annual Marshmallow Drop on Friday, April 15. There will be 3 drop times: #1 at 10:00 a.m. will be for toddlers to ages 4 and for children with disabilities. Drop #2 will be at 10:15 a.m. for ages 5-7 and the final Drop #3 will be at 10:30 a.m. for ages 8-10. Gather at the HYPE Athletics Center Anderson Ball Field #2 at Attwood Park.

Lenten fish fry
St. Mary Catholic Church, 34530 Michigan Ave, will be holding their annual Lenten Fish Fry on Fridays through April 8. The hours are 4-7:00 p.m. The event will be carry-out only. You can visit the website www.stmarywayne.org or call (734) 721-8745 to place your order.

First Congregational Church free concert series
The First Congregational Church of Wayne is planning a spring concert series that is open to the public with complimentary admission. It will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, in the sanctuary of the First Congregational Church, #2 Towne Square, in downtown Wayne.
The first of three concerts offers the talented duo of Joe Kidd and Sheila Burke who have crafted powerful acoustic anthems which have had success locally and around the world. Their music is influenced by many diverse instruments and genres and has won them two Detroit Music Awards in the outstanding World Songwriters category. In 2015, they were presented with the Michigan Governors Award for Artistic Excellence at the World Music Festival Concert of Colors. Please plan to attend this concert and enjoy the beautiful music these two artists offer.
The second concert of this series welcomes a local artist of many talents, Tyrone Hamilton. It will be held on Saturday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Tyrone plays at many venues and festivals around the Detroit area. He is a pianist, singer and song writer. He performs a variety of genres of music from blues to religious and inspirational. Be sure to mark your calendar and attend Tyrone’s concert.
The third concert will be held in June with the date to be announced. Kerry Price, a talented artist who writes and performs her own music throughout the Detroit area will be the guest of honor.

Downtown Wayne clean-up day
Wayne Ripple Effect is partnering with the Rotary Club of Wayne to conduct a city-wide cleanup of the roads and paths bordering the Rouge River on Saturday, April 23, from 9:00 a.m. until Noon. The Rotary Club of Wayne is celebrating its 100-year anniversary by performing one service project per month. April’s project is partnering with Wayne Ripple Effect for the Annual Downtown Wayne Clean-Up. A morning snack bar will be provided and pizza will be served at noon.
Volunteers Needed
We need your support! By volunteering to help clean up Wayne, you can make a difference! Volunteers are encouraged to wear old clothes, masks, and bring gloves. This is a great volunteer opportunity for individuals, families, businesses, and community service groups.
Please bring your own brooms, shovels, and other cleaning equipment. Trash bags will be provided. Volunteers should meet at Goudy Park at 8:30 a.m. for registration on April 23.

Food trucks in Wayne
on Wednesdays in April
The City of Wayne Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has announced that there will be two food trucks in the parking lot at City Hall by Goudy Park every Wednesday in April from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The plan is to have one truck serving something savory and one truck serving something sweet. Come for lunch or have an early dinner.

The Knights of Columbus, Notre Dame Hall, located at 3144 S. Wayne Rd, has several regular events.
Wednesdays are Comfort Food Wednesdays. Come have dinner at the Hall. Call the Hall for more details.
Thursdays are Euchre Nights.
Fridays are Karaoke Nights.
The last Sunday of the month there is a $10 Breakfast Buffet. If you wish to have unlimited Bloody Mary’s or Mimosas, the cost is $15.

Cemetery walk for 2022
The Wayne Historical Society will be hosting their annual cemetery walk on Saturday, April 23, at 1:00-3:00 p.m. The 2022 Walk will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Attendees will learn about several Wayne residents buried there and hear their life stories. Please park in Dynamite Park next to the cemetery.

Members of Wayne Westland Federal Credit Union can now receive a free credit report on the last Friday of every month. Visit with member representatives in the lobby for all the details.

Safe exchange zone
The Wayne Police Department is proud to announce and display its new “Safe Exchange Zone” in the front parking lot. The Safe Exchange Zone is designated parking for exchanging items that you purchase or sell online. The Safe Exchange Zone can also be used for child custody exchanges. This area is under 24/7 video surveillance and was created to offer a peace of mind to the parties involved.
Wayne Police Officers may not participate or act as an official witness in the transactions, nor are they available for legal advice or to settle civil or pricing disputes between parties involved in the transactions at this location.
