Residents wait to vote on election day at Hype Recreation Center.

By Sarah Shurge – In case you missed it, Tuesday, November 5th, was election day.
It’s important that you (if eligible) register to vote so your voice can be heard. Voting allows citizens a chance to have a say in who represents them and/or influence an issue that impacts them. So if you voted on Tuesday and are wondering about the election results for Wayne County, we’ve got you covered.
Here are the results from the Election Summary Report including total votes from Wayne County Districts:
Peter Herzberg (DEM) won Representative in State Legislature for 25th District with 4,713 votes. Josh Powell (REP) received 3,253 votes.
Allen R. Wilson (DEM) won County Commissioner 11th District with 5,439 votes.
Breeda O’Leary (NP) won Judge of District Court, 29th District Incumbent Position with 5,109 votes.
John P. Rhaesa (NP) won Wayne Mayor with 4,998 votes.
Wayne City Council (4 years) was won by: Kevin J. Dowd (NP) with 3,437 votes, Deborah R. Wass (NP) with 3,786 votes, and Rob Darwiche (NP) (with 381 write-in votes).
Other write-ins for Wayne City Council (4 years) were: Brett Michael Macek (NP) with 27 votes and Robert Eric Cleereman (NP) with 26 votes.
Wayne City Council (Partial Term Ending 11/09/26) was won by: Alfred Brock (NP) with 2,898 votes, Kathy Lawrence (NP) with 3,834 votes, and Donald L. Quarles (NP) with 2,564 votes.
Board Member Wayne-Westland Community Schools was won by: Shannon Rochon (NP) with 4,057 votes and Fred Weaver (NP) with 3,061 votes.
Board Member Wayne-Westland Community Schools (Partial Term Ending 12/31/26) was won by Andrew Ambrus (NP) with 4,605 votes.
Proposal 1 Charter Amendment was voted YES (63.00%) with 4,386 votes. This proposal was for the purpose of paying for police and fire services.
Proposal 2 Charter Amendment was voted NO (53.74%) with 3,749 votes. This proposal was for raising the threshold amount from $3,000 to $10,000.
Wayne-Westland Community Schools Replacement Operating Millage Proposal was voted YES (57.28%) with 4,019 votes.
Wayne RESA – Renewal of Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal was voted YES (59.89%) with 4,189 votes.
