1 MR. MCCARTY: It does appear to be silent, is
2 that this will be a no-contest plea?
3 MR. PENNEY: I'll leave that in the Court's
4 discretion if the Court is willing to take a no-contest.
5 THE COURT: Why a no-contest plea?
6 MR. MCCARTY: Well, there is a massive amount
7 of potential for civil liability consequences as a result
8 of this, for one.
9 Two, I don't know if, honestly, that --
10 THE COURT: Well, I think --
11 MR. MCCARTY: There's a number of lawsuits
12 already growing from this.
13 THE COURT: Well, if he wants to plead guilty,
14 that's fine. I'm not going to accept a no-contest plea.
15 DEFENDANT SANDERS: Fine, let's do it.
16 THE COURT: Has anyone -- all right. Again,
17 you're going to be asked a series of questions. If at
18 some point you can't hear, don't understand something
19 someone says, please interrupt and let us know and we will
20 stop and go over it again to make sure that you do hear
21 and you do understand, okay?
22 DEFENDANT SANDERS: Yes.
23 THE COURT: If you are asked a question and you
24 give an answer I'm going to assume that you understood the
25 question and the answer that you gave is the answer you
